My mother used to say, "a cat can look at a king", which my father said meant, "hold your head high, and never bow down to anybody." Words to live by. :)

The Murdoch flagship today features Johannes Leak exploiting a sexist meme - and a misogynistic political insult - to comment on conservative voter dynamics.

An intended critique of political drift, undermined by portraying female politicians as emotional, petty, or objects of desire.

He's pretty slick with misleading political spin: "Australia will have eight more nuclear reactors under the program for national security, but can't build any for energy security", which completely ignores the profound difference between nuclear reactors in submarines, and those on land.

Dutton couldn't pronounce #nuclear, either.

Now Dutton's gone, and the fanatically pro-nuclear Ted O'Brien is busy elsewhere.

If the global nuclear industry hopes to get a foothold in Australia, it'll need a better quality spokesperson than David Littleproud.

Mining companies continuing the coloniser tradition of ecological damage & destruction.

Digging, clearing, disturbing soils, exposing organic matter to oxygen, accelerating its decomposition - releasing even more CO₂ which increases global warming.

The Murdoch flagship's political cartoonist slavishly following Coalition climate policy - condemning advocates of renewable energy as fanatics, without offering any alternatives.

The priest pretty much sums up the Christian right's anti-Net Zero, pro-fossil fuels energy policy.

It’s not every day the Murdoch flagship runs a piece that sounds like it was written by the ALP media arm.

High praise for Albo ... damning criticism of the Coalition ... somewhere, Hell must be freezing over. 🤣

Sky News providing grist to the tabloid mill is the reason for its existence.

The non-story about Rudd-Trump is front and centre on the Murdoch flagship today, but there really is nothing to see here. Trump's own people have said worse - Vance once said Trump could be America's Hitler.

It's a parody of this 2016 photo of Barnaby Joyce with his then-media adviser, now-spouse, Vikki Campion.

The cartoon suggests that Joyce’s loyalties shift with whatever appeals to him in the moment - this week, it’s a flirtation with Pauline Hanson's One Nation.

King Donald: "Colombia, you’re fired… or invaded, I haven’t decided yet!"

The optics of the U.S. invading a sovereign nation don't gel with Trump's quest for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Although they do fit the anti-South American vibe of the vicious ICE raids, & bombing Venezuelan fishing boats.

Whatever the status of the Member for New England's flirtation with Far Right politics, the Murdoch flagship is taking a nothing-to-see-here approach.

Two home page articles on the Coalition this morning - both by Paul Kelly, neither of which mention Barnaby Joyce or Pauline Hanson. 🍿

Just another step in the on-going saga of Linda Reynolds destroying her reputation in a Quixotically vindictive quest to defend it.

The Commonwealth should be suing Reynods over the confidential documentation she was secretly sending to Janet Albrechtsen.

The gamblers are putting their money on him either winning the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, or being Time's 2025 person of the year.

I don't think he'll win the Nobel, and if Time chooses him again, he'll join Richard Nixon (1971, 1972) in being person of the year two years in a row. 🍿

Pro-Palestinians wouldn't have done such a poor job depicting the Palestinian flag on the billboard.

So the smart money would be on the billboard being an anti-Palestinian propaganda stunt.

October 7 marks two years since the Hamas attack on Israel, and the beginning of Israel's war on the people of Gaza.

No surprise that the aggressively pro-Israel Murdoch media gives front page space to multiple pro-Israel voices, and none to pro-Palestinian voices.

The Murdoch flagship misleading readers with this Johannes Leak piece.

Linking recognition of Palestine to an attack on a synagogue misrepresents the motives behind attacks which are driven by extremist ideology.

Recognition of Palestine is not an endorsement of antisemitism.

Trump's naked power blinds people like Pete Hegseth to the flabby obesity which would otherwise repel them.

A figurehead who is brutish and cruel - prepared to obtain obedience through force and violence, without regard for due process, or the rule of law - is a dream come true for them.

Sinclair Broadcast Group wants the power of censorship without the accountability that comes with admitting it.

It doesn’t have the guts to say, "We’re banning Jimmy Kimmel because the President hates being the butt of his jokes".

So it hides behind euphemistic jargon like "preempting." 🙄

Imagine being a US vet and watching Trump saluting during the playing of the US anthem.

It's possible he does this from ignorance, but it's more likely he thinks the protocols that everyone else follows - and which many vets hold dear - don't apply to him.

John Spooner's right-wing lens aligns with the pro-Israel narrative, mocking both the UN and Israel's genocide in Gaza.

It also echoes the 1930s propagandists whose political cartoons in Western newspapers at that time downplayed the humanitarian disaster unfolding in Germany.

News Corp doing what it does best - moonlighting as a think-tank for sceptics, by turning a Labor government report (the National Climate Risk Assessment) into a six-pack of alarmist schlock.

Because scepticism buys time for Australia's mining giants to keep pumping out fossil fuels. 😑
