November is Diabetes Awareness Month.
This is personal for me. I lost my parents due 2 heart disease, a complication of their #diabetes. They left us far too early from a preventable disease. As a healthcare provider & publichealth professional, I believe in more prevention to prevent chronic dz.

For me, this is deeply personal after enduring investigations for being gay while serving, to later be sworn in as a Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs with my wife by my side was a full circle moment I will never forget.
