At least in games like Skyrim or STALKER, the emptiness is itself the point. Open World in the context of an open landscape is one thing, but Open World in the constraints of an ultra-dense but vacuous city-space (GTA, Cyberpunk) just doesn’t hit in the same way.

I’m right there with you, Snazzy. I finished it at launch, rough edges and all, 100%ing the game at the time. It was enjoyable, and visually stunning on my 3090, but ultimately very shallow and hollow beneath.

Then I pick up something like Skyrim, and it just hits differently, pleasantly so.

Look, all we’re doing is taking the existing highly-invasive, privacy-destroying “smart” systems out there and repurposing them into highly-invasive, privacy-destroying systems we actually would consent to :P

Local-only, lightweight, no devouring of freshwater or consumption of fossil fuels to operate. Private, snappy, relatively reliable.

And as for the unreliable parts? Well that’s just part of the fun.

Literally the only critique I have for it at the moment is a desire for the option of sorting inventory by *item* weight vs *stack* weight, to help me clean stuff out faster.

But like, that's it. Everything else is aces for Early Access. Spent way too much time playing tonight.
