Once again, DHS is lying about our client.

If George "assaulted law enforcement," they would've charged him with something during the 3 days he was detained.

They released him without charges. That doesn't happen if you assault someone.

Police in Colorado wrongly accused a woman of stealing a $25 package off a porch.

Their rationale?

Her car was seen on a license plate reader in the town. But the town is 50 feet from her home, so of course it had been seen there.

In many places, it is illegal to provide even basic legal advice (like help filling out a form) without a law degree.

This makes it impossible for people to afford the legal help they need.

Today, a panel of the 9th Circuit ruled @ij.org client Carlos Pena is not entitled to compensation after a SWAT team destroyed his shop while chasing a fugitive in 2022.
