Like to talk about the Most Awesome Thing I Saw On TV Last Week. Former TWoP recapper. Love TV especially competitive reality. Twin mom, Upstate NY dweller.
House felt a little chilly so I checked the thermostat: 61F. I turned it up to 65 and husband said I was weak and that when he wakes up, it is 60. Pls back me up that 61 is not a normal in-house temperature when it is below freezing outside.

Told my boss that 1) today went too hard and we should really soft launch the week after a holiday and 2) that a group of people were "too soft" for my GenX constitution because they wanted the free filtered water my workplace provides to be colder. I'm a freaking delight.

I recapped Dancing With the Stars from the very first episode until...somewhere in the early 20s, season-wise, so about a decade, then didn't watch for a while. I'm watching this season and seeing the 20th anniversary special is both cool and very weird. That era feels like a whole other life.

There was an extremely vague story about a family who died in a car accident on a gnarly curve and if you drove it at night with your headlights off, you would see "The Lady", looking for her kids. Never saw her but did a lot of screaming when we would try it and then jump scare each other.
What’s the best ghost story from your hometown?

Not me over here crying in my living room over Robert Irwin dancing with his mom. I've gotten so soft in my old age. #dwts

Stephen Baldwin is appearing at a local film festival and got this write-up. The award that Bio-Dome won was "Most Painfully Unfunny Comedy" and the nomination for Flintstones was a Razzie. Amazing.

The greatest sin Grey's Anatomy ever committed was introducing "my person" into the dating show lexicon. Although do people remember that Christina is Meredith's person and not Derek or any romantic partner?

I have to apologize bc I said Tony was the only two-time American Survivor winner and I know he wasn't even the first! Sandra is a queen and I deserve a public flogging.

They should have an Emmy category for Best Talk Show Guest and all of the nominees are Timothy Olyphant and then the winner is Timothy Olyphant.

My family members (not football fans) love how I yell this every time he runs the ball. Jk they roll their eyes and ignore me.

Why does the music on Hard Knocks make me feel like I could run through a brick wall? It goes so hard. Go Bills!

Very little makes me feel older than when people are like "Check out my vintage haul" and it's all items that I owned or used as an actual adult.

Remembered JournalCon this morning and I never attended, but boy was it fun afterwards, trying to read between the lines of everyone's Con entries to figure out what went down. Anyway, what academic is working on that OLJ retrospective culture study?

The greatest thing about the new Alien TV show isn't the show itself (it's fine so far) but the fact that Timothy Olyphant is on a publicity tour. Never fails to delight.

Getting a bonded pair of cats has been great and I love their brotherly closeness BUUUT sometimes I walk in a room and they clearly have their own thing going on and they just look at me like "Did you need something?" And I'm like sorry and back out IN MY OWN HOME and they are CATS.

One nice thing about having a neurodivergent child is that when I ask about a sample in a song, he immediately knows the origin (and can usually name 5-10 other songs that use the sample). He can also usually tell me if the sample was pitched or sped up. And the time signature of any song we hear.

Over the years, I have tried to be less prescriptive about grammar and usage but if I hear someone say "disingenuine" one more time, I swear to God. IT IS NOT A WORD. You mean disingenuous.

Realized while listening to "Nasty" this morning that the artist's full name is Janet (not baby) Prophecy Control, but it's Miss Jackson if you're nasty. I wonder if that's a family name or?

Planned a fun lil weekend getaway for my family and I just know my kids are going to hate it and complain the entire time. Trying to decide if it will annoy them more if I act like Mary Sunshine and turn those frowns around or out-mope them. Decisions.

One of my fave things in life is when you are into a song but somehow it falls off your internal playlist and then years later, you hear it and remember how much you love it, like a long-lost friend. Anyway, "Suzanne" by Weezer was on this season of "The Bear" and I was fucking delighted.

If one of my 1st semester writing students could correctly use an em-dash, I would be impressed. Later in the semester, I have enough of their writing samples to know if it's likely or not. What is harder is PROVING they used AI when I know they did. Trying some new strategies this semester.
Working with a student on her story, I recommend using an em-dash. She says she can't, because professors will think she's using AI. She says that's a tell now. Is it? Is the hopeless race to outsmart AI causing us to lose bits of language and punctuation?

Consuming all the Survivor 50 content and decided to ask my husband (who watched seasons 1 and 2 and then maybe a few episodes by osmosis) what Survivor names he knows. The list is: Richard Hatch, Rudy, Colby, Amber, Rupert, and Boston Rob. That's it.

My brother-in-law is an amazing nature photographer but for the last two nights, he has been attacked by an owl while shooting and I had to tell him about "The Staircase". Anyway, he got attacked again on the third night but it was from the front and he was able to fend it off. He needs a helmet.
