I haven't seen backpedaling like this since everyone suddenly decided they had secretly always been against invading Iraq!

(inb4 anyone says anything about The Chosen—I have not watched the show!—or about Biblical scholarship around Simon haha. The "Zealots" as a political group didn't exist when the gospels took place, but he was at least a very pious Jewish man; I expect he would have resented the Roman occupation!)

The very critiques the right levels against "wokeism" (that "woke" people are focusing on smaller, trivial things when "more important" issues are happening) can really be leveled against them. Corruption is certainly bad - but in the face of murder? Why are you stuck in the culture wars still?!

Podcast is a little tankie (i.e. a bit too "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" wrt enemies of the U.S.) and I may skip the season on the Korean war based on some reviews, but I'm very excited for the Cuba season.

(for context - Austin's really enjoying a podcast called "Blowback," which covers different conflicts where the U.S. has inserted itself into foreign affairs and wreaked havoc; and the first season is about the Iraq war. I'm listening to it to surprise him, even though I'm not a big history person.)
