Why has the price ratio jumped? Gas prices have fallen by around 6% driven by lower wholesale costs. At the same time, electricity costs have risen, driven mainly by adding the cost of new nuclear to bills, plus some other increases.

a static price cap wouldn't be possible primarily because wholesale gas and electricity costs are international and fluctuate. It's valid to argue that Ofgem allows too much headroom for investment, profit, etc. but a limit like you mean would effectively be an unaffordable regular mass gov subsidy
