This was also true in Republican areas (though might been driven by *low* support for the White Democrat's opponent: A Black Republican). But the fact that in both NJ and in GA we see more racially polarized voting among Dems (better put: in Dem precincts) than Republicans is interesting

Of course, none but none of this comes up in the Shelby County opinion. They're just calling balls and strikes, after all.

But it's an abhorrent example of transferring a political decision away from Congress to a branch that has no direct democratic accountability. /fin
