A lot of new followers since I posted this, so in case you missed it, here's my Front-end Friends starter pack 😊 go.bsky.app/FfLUXeQ

(and a more specific CSS Starter Pack here too: go.bsky.app/JQYmgQH)
No idea what inspired it, but I started playing Chess about 2 months ago.

First month was a lot of trying my best, and losing a lot... Decided to try and learn a little more and things have been progressing ☺️

I'm still terrible, but clearly better than I was, lol

View transitions are pretty neat, and I was fortunate enough to write a piece for @piccalil.li about putting them to work.

They're such an exciting new part of the web platform, and I'm elated to see new and boundary-pushing effects making their way into production.

Calling all web developers! Browsers are all meeting up next week (www.w3.org/events/tpac/...). I want your voice to be heard! Tell me your biggest problems, and tell me what you want to see from the platform. What problems are tough to solve, but could be easier?

This is quite a banger feature for web perf engineers. In Chrome Canary, you can now turn on an experimental feature to throttle single requests!

This is golden to check the performance impact of a delayed resource. 👏

I remember how excited I was when border-radius became a thing... If only I'd know what would eventually be possible with it about 15 years later 😅

corner-shape takes border-radius to an all new level...

There's a new #CSS Working Group poll to get feedback on different names for the infamous 'Pinterest' layout.

- Since it uses many of the grid-* properties, `grid` will be in the name somewhere
- We don't use metaphors in CSS names, so `masonry` is not listed here

Ex-Masonry Display Type Keyword Poll
See https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/12022 for context. This poll intentionally leaves out `masonry` as an option, see https://github.com/w3c/csswg-drafts/issues/12022#issuecomment-34172962...

I had a chat with @nerdy.dev about his somewhat recent job hunt, where he talked a lot about the misalignment between the technical interviews and the roles they were looking to fill... and how even if they tried to fix the interviews, it didn't seem to help 😅
