My dad joined the Marine Corps in 1964. 60 years ago he landed on the beaches of Vietnam as part of the first regular forces in the war. Despite having survivors guilt, he recently said the two best things he did in his life were marrying my mom and becoming a Marine. Happy birthday to the Marines.

I really like Curtis Sliwa. I don't want him to be mayor, but he's a NYC institution who respects the will of the people. He may be a weird guy, but he's NYC's weird guy.

I'm the son of an immigrant who moved to Queens and the grandson of a carpenter who helped build NYC. I can't agree with this more.

Free school lunches give dignity to students with poor parents. They no longer have the stigma of being single out. Feeding children is a good thing.
