Keeping a 3yo amused when it’s too hot to go outdoors is a challenge. Yesterday’s main activity? Baking & decorating gingerbread men. This one was a masterpiece. 😂

Still undecided about what to make for dessert. Maybe this old favourite, raspberry-Frangelico tiramisu cake? It’s a bitch to make without it collapsing, but I can always chuck it in a bowl & call it trifle.🤔

lmao, DIL is going to kill me. I bought this Bluey cash register for granddaughter, who loves to play “shopping”, but did not realise till I picked it up that the buttons all make noise - and the Bluey/Bingo ones on the right talk! I think it might be an outdoor toy… 🤣

I love those little tree frogs, I often hear them in the back yard, but rarely see them. Although I did find one hiding in one of my lettuces last summer.

I jumped in & took over whisking in a frightening amount of chilled butter & it turned out well. Although I added the amount of lemon juice the recipe called for & it was a bit much. Should have added less & tasted. Sauce quantity was OTT as well, but that’s a problem I can live with. 😂

Finished off my preserved lemons, which were salted a week ago. We’ll see if they’re any good in about a month. The preserves from last season have mostly been used, but we still have a decent supply of pickles, relish, tomato puree & more. No doubt I’ll be back on my pickling spree around Jan/Feb.👩🍳

Currently spending a night at a motel that has not been renovated since the early 80s. No way are we getting in that spa. 😱 The pelicans seem a bit whimsical, a stark contrast to the horror movie vibe the entire room gives off. 😅
