Your regular reminder that despite the faded lines and leftover sign, there are still no bike lanes on Cleveland St, 8 years after they were removed by the previous councilmember.

Anyone have a spreadsheet of sidewalk and bikeway funding over the past few years @jerewoo.bsky.social? Seems like this is a decrease.

Did have to ask the security guard to move his car over a couple feet, but I appreciated the clear signage indicating that the bike lane is open today and will be closed tomorrow between 2-8pm only. Definitely an improvement from previous CMA's when this route has been inaccessible all week.

Update - apparently a second light post has been mowed down? There's a bunch more broken glass in the bike lane
November 11, 2025 at 10:07 PM
Heads up on Demonbreun - a sign has been flattened into the bike lane on one side and an entire light post has been destroyed on the other side, with lots of glass in the bike lane. Reported to hub.

While thinking about our statement on this, I tried out the PHB on Demonbreun Hill. Here's what I found:

1. There's a 45-second delay before it even acknowledges your existence. After that you get about 30 seconds to cross.

2. Two drivers ran straight through the solid red lights.

Good news! They're putting a daycare in the first residential building on the East Bank at Shelby & 2nd!

Bad news - they are making parents drive their kids inside the parking garage for dropoff because it will be too dangerous to be on the sidewalk in our brand new pedestrian-friendly neighborhood

Rain cover appreciation post - girl was in there with no shoes, a fleece jacket, and pajama pants and stayed completely dry 🙌

Similarly, NDOT guidelines only recommend a PHB for streets with <9000 vehicles per day and speed limits ≤ 35 mph if the street is 6 lanes wide.

Given the width, speed, and traffic volumes on 3rd, a PHB does not seem to be warranted here and could go to much better use elsewhere.
