BEYOND THE VEIL (2023)

This began as an abstract color experiment. I had no particular subject in mind until I recalled a drawing in my sketchbook. Staring at a darkly swathed figure earlier that day, I felt that she’d been waiting for a painting to float into. 1/2

The color patterns of the planet—rendered in white, blue, and green—and the warm space beyond are abstract swirls and bubbles. My character Draga. She is over 100 years old, since she is a hybrid of humans and cosmic beings.

She has a perky demeanor, which makes everyone underestimate her. They do regret it when she stops being nice and lovely and turns into a very frightening monster.

I've progressed very slowly and I know, I barely do trendy things and mainly draw my own characters… I guess I need to come to terms that I mainly do it for my own self and have no audience. The question is if I then should keep posting it to social media, since it's such a time sink…

This artwork took me almost 10 years to finish. Started it in 2017, picked it up again in 2022 and only this year I finally got it to a state where I am content enough with it.
