I write and talk about the NBA, especially the salary cap, CBA and roster construction stuff. I do these things for Spotrac, NBA Front Office Show and The Basketball Bulletin. Any nonsense you see here is from me, not my employers.
I’m doing some G League roster updates, and I know it’s a rehab assignment, but this still made me chuckle!

This is nonsense! Not why we live in Florida!

Our daughter is obsessed with F1 (to the same extent that I am with basketball!), so she did her own F1 pumpkin this year. All the team logos, plus a little love for her and my wife’s favorite drivers! @f1tv.bsky.social

Haunted Mansion was the theme for this year’s pumpkins from my wife and daughter! And, yes, that is two pumpkins stacked on top of each other!

The first League Pass night is one of my favorite nights of the year. It’s so beautiful!

Here’s what I wrote about Keegan Murray and the Kings when I previewed rookie scale extensions in late June for @spotrac.com.

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day!

This is a somewhat simple read, then you remember that VJ Edgecombe is a rookie and not a primary pick-and-roll playmaker. The sky is the limit with this kid. He's going to be great.

I liked seeing this from Tristan da Silva. Dribbled to his spot, hit Andrew Wiggins with the shoulder to create space for the fallaway. da Silva is playing with more confidence. EuroBasket did him well!

I'm trying to be rational, but this seems incredible. Great message from Jayson Tatum at the end for his fans and Celtics fans too!

Here's a quick guide to some of the things that can hard cap a team:

Resharing this quick graphic I made to help with confusion around what teams and can't do at the various levels team salary levels. It's not 100% comprehensive, but covers the main things teams can and can't do.

Here’s what I wrote nearly a month ago for @spotrac.com about Kyrie Irving’s next contract. Pretty close!

That’s a lot of money invested in shooting guards and small forwards:

A reminder as new NBA deals are agreed to: We’ll enter an estimate on @spotrac and flag it in purple. We always start with the standard structure, unless reported details come out otherwise.

Here’s Steven Adams’ new extension with the Houston Rockets:

Celtics shot zone chart from Game 2 vs Knicks:

Good at the rim (plus about 1/4 of their shots at the rim).

Bad everywhere else.

This is the Celtics shot chart from their Game 1 loss to the Knicks. You find less red on the floor in a Tarantino movie.

The threes stand out (3-for-14 from the corners is brutal), but they weren't good in the paint or at the rim either.

I think you shrug and move on.

More than anything, this image of Damian Lillard sitting on the court injured, as the game moved on without him, sparked me to start thinking about the below piece.

Giannis battling until he had nothing left in Game 5 clinched that I'd write the piece.

Basketball is sometimes beautiful sadness.

Darius Garland didn't play coy when he said the Cavs offensive approach is to "pick on Tyler Herro". No need to be when it's glaringly obvious.

🏀Donovan Mitchell over Herro on a midrange pullup
🏀No need to pull Herro in when Mitchell can attack Jovic
🏀Bury another pullup against a blown switch-back
