Husband, father, occasional writer, lover of music, cheese and all things spooky.
Wrote two novels during lockdown. The Burnt Watcher and Visitation. A third escapes me.
It's almost like the camera has not been invented.

Oh, sorry. Happy birthday.

Get better soon, but I am not sure The Groke is the best one to give you a bedtime hug...

Anyone would think Labour had a majority of 2. We know the problem, we know the solution, but it might upset some people so we might lose some voters...
Mate, how much lower do you think you can drop? And if it worked and people got more security and waelth, you might be a hero.

Some years ago I made tge Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall mince pies. Minced beef, fruit, sugar and brandy left to mature for a month before baking.
Absolutely delicious.

That was apparently partly because drawing a transparent ghost using etching for printing plates was really difficult.

Thank you.

THIS MAKES NO SENSE!

If we hadn't broken rank we would have won. But we did and a large proportion of England is still owned by the descendents of the victors.

Farage has received over £500k from the Russian government via RT, so of course he will deny Russian involvement.

But we can't see these immigrants as actual people. That would mean divertimg my anger to those that have damaged society, and I am sorry, I am just not prepared to do that.

I will now be looking for a sign that says "Tea and Humans" whenever I go into a cafe.

Some years ago I had that very same experience (different book though). I then ordered a steak and kidney pie and, as it arrived, Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World came quietly on the sound system.
I still sigh when I remember it.

It hasn't taken long to forget what infectious diseases can do. We see diseases as "a touch of flu" without being confronted by the horrors of Diphtheria or Whooping Cough.
Mind you, with RFK jnr in charge, the US will soon have a good idea.

Or read the book. The final section with Herne is spine-tinglingly good.

Can it not just be beautiful?
December 2, 2025 at 9:32 PM
I am surprisingly moved by that. It is deeply wonderful.

I can empathise. I liken it to piloting a body made entirely of duvets.

Stop it. You're spoiling Christmas year.

Good for you. My house has solid brick walls that need to breathe otherwise they hold in damp. We have had to have changes done to the exterior render because it is cement and should never have been installed. Even the plaster should, ideally, be replaced with lime.
