So far this film reminds me of my dad's softball team, the Brunos. The player that looks like Fee Waybill IS Fee Waybill.

Finally. (Bummer about the watermark, but I've seen worse.)

I posted recently about men with leaky faces--don't worry, someone brought Ian Holm's android, Ash, to my attention--but I forgot about my favorite hard-boiled, squirrel-cheeked actor, Joe Shishido, in Takashi Nomura's A Colt Is My Passport. @fulciseyefetish.bsky.social is right: it RULES.

One of my better efforts. Believe it or not: I'd never made one until I saw Love Lies Bleeding!

Hope to see some of you there!

Congratulations to @prophetkotto.bsky.social, who recently received a best editing nomination from the IDA (International Documentary Association). Once you see WTO/99, if you haven't already, you'll see why. (Props to my pal, Adam Sekuler, too, for Suburban Fury.)

A movie that takes place where you’re from.

Most movies set in my state weren't filmed there--this one was.

That first film (only 51 mins) sounds pretty entertaining.

Working on a review of Göran Olsson's nearly-three hour documentary ISRAEL PALESTINE ON SWEDISH TV 1958-1989. This passenger's description of the Palestinian Liberation Front members who hijacked her plane in 1970: unexpected.

Fun fact: Olsson titled his first film Fuck You, Fuck You Very Much.

I like this juxtaposition of Instagram images: spent a week hanging out with Steve De Jarnatt (Tarzana, Miracle Mile), Jafar Panahi (It Was Just an Accident), PNW filmmakers at @seattlecritics.bsky.social screenings at SIFF (light art located between the Film Center and KEXP), and the cat.

#LetterboxdFriday Last Four Watched. Banner week: caught Miracle Mile with Steve De Jarnatt and It Was Just an Accident with Jafar Panahi. Neon chose 6 cities for JP's tour; @siffnews.bsky.social's support of Iranian cinema won the day. And I'm now caught up w Cattet & Forzani: tinyurl.com/y54k8f5e

Jafar Panahi hasn't just visited NYC and Los Angeles with It Was Just an Accident, but Seattle, too! Tickets are, understandably, on standby. Fortunately, I bought mine the minute they went on sale--makes up for missing him at the New York Film Festival, though no Scorsese at this screening.

If you attend the @seattlecritics.bsky.social screening of Twinless Nov 21 at @siffnews.bsky.social Film Center, you'll get a virtual Q&A with filmmaker James Sweeney and the chance to win this Kraken plush (will make more sense if you've seen the film). Tickets and more info: tinyurl.com/45ersux4

@beingtsj.bsky.social introducing @seattlecritics.bsky.social screening of nominees for the first PNW short film award with filmmakers in attendance. A lot of people showed up, and Thomas did a great job hosting and moderating. Special thanks to @nwfilmforum.bsky.social. Winner announced Dec 15.

And...my introduction to Sergi López was in this film.

Nice to see he still has the goods.

The Quay Bros have adapted both (I prefer the former).
