Not a great photo I know but Jeremy Denk’s recitals are always revelatory. This one at Wigmore Hall in which he played all six of JS Bach’s Partitas was no exception. It was literally an epic.

Despite being underprepared for the lesson the day after next, at Kopatchinskaja’s concert which “as a musical response to climate change, featuring the medieval lament of the ‘Day of Wrath’ (Judgement Day) from the Requiem Mass. As the title suggests, the piece does not convey cheerful sentiments.”

So I went to Hamburg to hear Igor Levit play Bartok’s Piano Concerto no.3. He played the 1st anf 2nd movemet with his robust touch with clean and expressive without ant vulgar glitter but with noble matte tone. But the 3rd movement was vintage Levit with explosive energy (2/n)
