On Sunday I conducted our new little choir (12 people) at our united service for Christ The King (including singing the tenor line on my own, even when I turned round and conducted the congregation for the last verse). I love this pic (have sent it to my old singing teacher and my band-master dad)

I find myself required to write about my strengths and weaknesses. Unfortunately, one of my main weaknesses is being unable to answer this type of question!

And then @beckymynett.bsky.social dobbed me in to @quiresandplaces.com and they made my (fever) dreams come true!

So, 'Come, Thou long expected Jesus' can go to 'Stuttgart' (meh), 'Cross of Jesus' (good) or 'Hyfrydol' (good) but I'm sure I remember singing it to 'What a Friend we have in Jesus' ... is this some kind of fever dream brought on by being raised with song/tune books that listed everything by meter?

Just want to point out that my Auntie Denise was in fact my mum's cousin and a lot of the people I call my cousins are my second cousins. But then, most of the people I grew up calling Auntie weren't relatives at all, we're just w/c northerners. Doesn't make me a liar.

Thank you, brain, for the repeated 'Greenfinch and Linnet Bird'/ 'Bring Him Home' mash-up, it is most ingenious (if slightly annoying)

I love this.
The home of the O'Donovan family is being used as a polling station in Coolmoyne, Co Tipperary. Around 250 people are eligible to vote at the house and after they cast their ballot, they will be treated to a cup of tea, a slice of apple or rhubarb tart, or a scone | More: rte.ie/b/1540324

I can't sign this letter because I'm no longer in the Church of England (or England at all) because of exactly these issues. But please consider signing it if you're eligible.
I've signed this open letter. #CofEpeeps, lay or ordained, if you want the church to become more fully affirming of LGBTQ+ folks, please read this letter from Inclusive Church and consider signing it.

I wish I could explain to my doggy that the doggies barking on the telly are not actually in distress, and he doesn't need to bark back or jump up and investigate!

"And headwear, sir?"
"My lesbian canal boater, I think, Jeeves. I'm feeling daring."
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that any publication owned by Rupert Murdoch, must inevitably descend into trite rage bait." Jane Austen, probably.

On the other hand, a "Lesbian Canal Boater" sounds like a rather dashing item of summer headwear.

I'm about to go into a 2-hour exegesis seminar, 40 minutes after my flu jab. Is this wise? We shall see.

I have an important set of 6 Zoom conversations scheduled for Wednesday. They come with a complicated advance email. Today I received an email, but it wasn't THE email, it was just an email ABOUT the email. I should get THE email tomorrow. Eek!
