Gundam fans from reddit are (in average) not very smart and quite allergic to any interpretations that are not literal. And ofc they're biased towards queerness, they can accept gay couples either as a joke or when it has a stamp of approval.

The only OG female pilot, Cima, dies in the way that feels and looks like sexual assault.

The other female pilot, who was introduced only in the manga, Clara, uses mobile suit combat to escape her powerless position.
