This language in NYT gives ideological cover to reactionaries by framing their views in a more positive light. They don’t want “a stronger family unit” where one parent stays home with the kids. They want a rigid patriarchal heteronormative family structure where THE MOTHER stays home.

Our Christmas travel plans have been delayed by the baby getting sick with the flu and vomiting everywhere 😭 but last night after she went to bed we had hot cocoa and watched The Muppet Christmas Carol and it was a salve for the soul
