Every time people learn about the city of White Settlement, I have to share how the local city council voted to remove a cat from the library and got so much backlash they had to reverse the vote. One councilor repeatedly tried to evict the cat and lost relection over it. Justice for Browser (RIP).

What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders?

Digital resources, particularly eBooks and audiobooks, are going to bankrupt libraries if something isn't done to halt the extortionary pricing models of publishers.
What is common knowledge in your field but shocks outsiders?

It is good and proper in a well-kept library to dispose of books.

A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

On 3/14, Trump signed a EO to eliminate the IMLS, the only federal funding agency for public libraries. It is only 0.003% of the federal budget but will have devastating impact on local libraries. Please call Congress and ask them to protect IMLS: www.congress.gov/members/find...

After my grandfather suffered a brain aneurysm decades ago, he watched Sesame Street while recovering to re-learn the basic concepts he lost to cognitive impairment.

With the current threat posed to NPR and PBS, we should discuss the positive impacts these organizations have had on us personally as American citizens.
