There are men, and there are horsemen.
Apart from joking, I meant that great deal of experience and feel is required to hammer properly. I am still learning too.

Beware, hammering is a delicate process 😁

Oh, guess that never saw service too. Soak in naphtha, then diesel. Bit of heat and precut of the bearing cages might save your bores. If unlucky, few options too.

OEM should be first considered. Anyway, environment is not that agressive, so no biggie.

Pay more attention to proper grease choice. And regular cleaning after helps too.

What is the bearings & bushes condition?

So culturallly away from my domain, got no clue what your engine is sputtering about 😀

Glad you advance 'on all fronts'.
You even made this bracket pretty clean despite the hidden location. Looks nice.

You tell 😃

A Guzzi with variable pressure regulator for me, please 😁
December 16, 2025 at 12:53 PM
Hope torrential doesn't last long and you can enjoy some clean roads and fresh air?
December 16, 2025 at 6:07 AM
Great for a Guzzi ride 🤩

Nothing less than braapy video shall be accepted as proof of concept 🧐

If you rely solely on gloves for keeping your hands warm, would suggest you to look for longer ones covering your wrists/ arm sleeve ends.
December 13, 2025 at 1:10 PM
Another fact ( well known ) is that immobilized hands suffer earlier from the frost bites. When you ride more dynamically ( more evidently offroad ) blood circulation makes things quite favourable. Same positives come for the body/ torso when using more body steering/ standups.

Dualsport is great.

These muffs are not the heaviest solution, there are thicker wooled models with elastic curtain for the arm entry point. Mine are kind of universal, so the openings round mirrors and fluid reservoirs has to be sealed additionally for the specific setup.
December 12, 2025 at 2:18 PM
My plan is exactly the same, muffs & heat grips = summer gloves control in winter. Orange bike got the heated grips, but still prefers the garage instead of outdoor. Hence the muffs slid on the Yellow bike and testing begun - about 10C = exellent, about 4C good upto 120kph for few hours.

Refrese it a bit more, my brain is operating now in suboptimal temperature mode 🥴
December 12, 2025 at 12:56 PM
She's a keeper. I've dropped few dates in similar selection process 😄

Braces might lead to less injury as you say.

But what happen? Your tires are studded, great grip on snow and fresh packed ice. Was this creek line shreaded into bulky ice bits by other passes and running water? Did it feel like sand spot?

And this is what matters.
December 12, 2025 at 4:26 AM
All good mate, know you are not chasing race split secods setups. Glad you are one enjoying the process and open for oppinions.

Cheers, long live diy garage people, open the fridge 😃

Just draining might be fast oil swap, but there is particle contamination from forks sideways flexed and springs/ bushes scrubbing. Way better cleaning comes after disassembly and solvents wash/ flush. New oil not contaminated, air gap set precise.

Was asking because "W" index as specified by SAE has quite broad interpretation between makers - one's 5w might be quite different from another's 5w. It is suggested to compare viscosity grades by their ISO spec - cSt@40C which proves comparison adequate. Look at cSt@40C, not W, if switching brands.
