Big fan of this KanjiTalk 6 aesthetic. The brutalist sparseness of System 6 before they added the little 3D touches and proper color icons, and the uncomfortably oversized fonts used to fit the detail needed to show readable Kanji causing everything to feel a bit cramped and misaligned.

Apple really doesn't care about their developers anymore…

I keep using their bug reporter to report issues with their operating systems but they've never once gotten back to me about any fixes!

Right now I have it set down to 800x600 SVGA (hence the blurry screen photos) since my LCD monitor is really not happy trying to sync to the 1024x768 output; 9/10 times it syncs the image all squished and washed out and none of the OSD controls can fix it […]

After a few false starts with HD SC Setup and SCSI Director, I finally partitioned the HDD with FWB HD Toolkit and installed System 6.0.7 off of floppies.

It has no problems getting on #globaltalk without any fuss!

The HDD that came with the IIcx was dead (it spins up, clicks once but then nothing), but it turns out the Duo Dock also had a 160 MB Quantum HDD in it and that one works!

It also turns out the graphics card is an Interware GrandVimage 21i populated with 3 MB […]

I literally have to count out the month names on my fingers since for a decade+ I have lived in a world of Japanese dates (numbered months) and SQL timestamps 😭

It has a row of green LEDs on the front for Status, Access and 5 different drives (numbered HDD, 1,2,3,4). There are buttons for power, select, eject and copy. The front page of http://globaltalk.network loads but all the links lead to https :(

@vga256 could you change the links to go to “//” instead of https://, so they inherit the protocol the page was loaded over? Should help with old browsers on Mac as well

For funsies I plugged the TV into the LAN. It’s 15 years old and all the internet services it shipped with are dead.

Today in domestic work: cable management behind the TV. Some things could be cleaned up even more if I was willing to sacrifice more cable ties but this is already a massive improvement.
