Queer jewish leftist; professional sailor, unrepentant otaku, obsessive gaymer. I think Biden is a bad president, and also the best president since FDR.
I mostly just made a profile so I can read those 'sign in required' posts and chat with cool people.
Is there actually a single picture of him shaking someones hand in the last six months?

I remember him doing the aggro handshake thing in his first term (and getting wrecked by Trudeau, lol), but I haven't seen it this time around.

Baba Yetu is one of the very few pieces of game music I've just.. left the game running to listen to. It's still on my MP3 playlist.

(Corridors of Time is another. And, uh, nearly the whole Chrono Cross soundtrack, haha.)

I don't like theatres much.

Because of the weird way my brain works, I got the 'pleasure' of periodically rewatching the most uncomfortable and cringey scenes in the movie in my head repeatedly for the next decade.

The second was someone else's birthday. The movie was Krippendorf's Tribe. A revolting mix of misygyny, racism, anti-intellectualism, tribal stereotypes, and a good dollop of anti-semitism.

I felt I couldn't leave because I didn't want to annoy the other people in the theatre.

Is it the discomfort of someone who doesn't have an answer? Or the discomfort of someone who *does* have an answer, but knows "the infrastructure" isn't in place yet to respond "430 South Capital Street".

My favourite proposal is to admit DC as 100 states.
Can be done with a simple majority in both houses.
Boom, supermajority in congress, plus control of enough state legislatures to easily reform the constitution.

(I don't know how /cruise ships/ specifically deal with it - with the far, far higher number of people aboard, they may actually have dedicated resources for the situation.)

Yup! That's the way!
Professional sailor here. There's actually a whole procedure for preserving bodies in the case of a particularly unfortunate accident at sea. It's one I hope to never be involved in, but we do occassionally have some macabre conversations/training.

Lol, immediately had the same thought.

I just tested this,
And it does not work for Wingdings.
I am exceedingly disappointed.

I mean, the longest-serving Republican speaker went to prison for (downstream consequences of) committing sexual assault on a minor.

To be clear, I'm not disagreeing with you. Just setting the bar.

The simple explanation is they're using the same messaging for the public that they use in private with their VC funders - and that's messaging that gives Peter Thiel a boner visible from space.

Most of the comments interpret it as taking the side of the dish-leaver over the dish-washer, and I can see that reading, but yah, you're 100% right: one of the keys to a successful relationship is figuring out how to navigate issues like this in a way that doesn't lead to strife!

...amazing. That is incredibly, insulting intrusive.

There /is/ systemic risk right now, but it's not from "LLMs displace all front-line workers", it's from "over a third of the economy is tied up in the seven big tech companies, who, other than NVidia, haven't found any way to actually monetize the tech that inflated their values".
