I'm afraid my take on this phenomenon is a bit cynical: I think most of the "deep resistance" is from people who don't want a bunch of immigrants housed nearby. In their minds, they don't want a detention facility next door for the same reason they don't want a conventional prison next door.

BlueSky really is a bizarro land. I mean, it's the place where @nytimes.com posts are often flooded with comments accusing them of being a fascist news organization. (These days you usually have to look under the "show more replies" link.) I really have a hard time taking this site seriously.

I was joking, of course. But it's a little wild because if we get a thundersnow in KC we can generally count on a foot or more.

Or maybe it's getting worse because they're trying to tweak it because no one trusts it? Either way, the whole thing is a mess.

As someone who uses AI as a reference tool in narrow topics where it's reasonably functional and errors are exposed quickly, I can tell you its overall quality has been dropping precipitously over the past several months. ChatGPT has become nearly unusable. It's no wonder the industry is panicking!

Mr Williams needs to be representing his state, and in this case that would include by raising hell about the fact that the administration's first response to the shooting was their DHS secretary cosplaying as a Texan on national television to spew lies about an officer-involved murder.

I'm a little hesitant to call this out given the seriousness of the situation, but...... Did that reporter just call Minneapolis "this very small midwestern city"? 🤨

Michael Landon may not have been thinking specifically in these terms when he wrote that story. If not, then he was telling a more profound story than he even realized, for his story points to the fact that even the real baby Charles whom the real family lost will be raised.
