This absolutely should not need to be said, but immigrants are not a *threat* to the US. Immigrants *are* the US, and have been since its inception. Being anti-immigrant is one of the most fundamentally un-American views a person can hold.

In happier news, I adopted this adorable void last weekend. Or perhaps more accurately, Sylphrena has tentatively accepted me as a co-resident in her new apartment.

"Chemical irritant." Yeah, I can see how permanent eye damage would be pretty irritating. Glad that's not being understated at all.

Dang, who could've predicted this? Apart from anyone with the most cursory understanding of tariffs, that is.
America's own goal: Americans pay almost entirely for Trump’s tariffs
Contrary to US government rhetoric, the cost of US import tariffs are not borne by foreign exporters. Instead, they hit the American economy itself. Importers and consumers in the US bear 96 percent o...

I think this is the most I've fact-checked something hoping for it not to be real, because what the actual fuck. The 'elected' leader of the world's strongest military just formally told Norway's president that he's warmongering because he didn't get a medal for *not* warmongering.

In other words, judge rules that immigration agents can't do what anyone with the most basic understanding of US law already knew they weren't allowed to do. Excuse my skepticism if I'm disinclined to believe they'll stop just because a judge told them to.

I'm going to be super blunt here: which of the conflicting orders Renee Good should have followed and whether they were legitimate is fucking irrelevant to the question of whether she deserved to be executed for not obeying them.

This deep-seated self-victimization complex is legitimately insane. And that's without getting into the white nationalist connotations of that particular phrasing. We're in the top 5 countries by land area, y'all can still live here. Heckin' yikes.

I'll be honest, in an era where the absurdity of reality makes it seem incredibly difficult to satirize, The Onion's continued ability to be absolutely savage in that regard is truly impressive.

But actually. This is all pretty well established science in mental health at this point. To the extent that not being cisgender can be recognized as a mental health topic, the scientifically-backed advice a therapist will give is to transition to match your gender identity.

Threatening to court martial a well-decorated and respected vet for reminding soldiers of their oath sounds like the plot of an alternate reality sci-fi novel. Telling your entire military that doing their job is "seditious" is certainly a new level of insane, even for this regime.

On a personal bright side, I'm employed again, so there's that anyway. It's arguably even a sizable promotion from my last position.
