Tim Sweeney is the new Michael Pachter. Whatever he says you should do, do the opposite.

So your life is just a vicious cycle of "I sure hope this doesn't awaken anything in me"?

The prices are bloated now because they can charge whatever to the people building AI data centers without consequence. Tomorrow the prices will be bloated because the AI bubble popped but the shareholders still demand growth so consumer hardware prices won't budge an inch.
You hate to see it.

I graduated with a computer science degree in 2021 and anyone who knows what happened to the CS job market in 2021 will understand what I mean when I say I was forced to go into indie development.

Honestly it just proves my theory that Donald Trump is a total pushover to be true. You get anyone with an ounce of confidence and actual moral principles to stand up to his bullshit and he'll fold like a wet paper bag live on camera.
Trump has the psychology of an insecure schoolyard bully lmao

Remember that firing also costs a company money so if a company fires you to replace you with a robot, fails and then comes crawling back to you, they've probably spent multiple times your annual salary just for you to end up in the same place. Now imagine this for all jobs lost to AI.

I don't care if this post makes me come off as a hater, if you're going to make an information-based joke, make sure your research is solid first.

People were arguing that Helldivers 2 was an indie game when it released because "Arrowhead is an independently owned studio" which A) Wasn't true than and is even less true now as Tencent has acquired like 15% stakes in the studio and B) Sony gave the game nearly $50 million in funding.

It says a lot when the person in the Infowars shirt isn't the person who has to be worried about having water dumped all over them.

Not really. A number of vaccines and advancements in genetic research have come from LLMs and no one is going to deny that or say it's a bad thing. Most people will also agree that LLMs have no place in the arts.

The middleground for generative AI is that it should be used purely for scientific, medical and research applications and completely banned for any artistic purpose.

This was my first thought. It's just going to lead to a bunch of customers trying to haggle all day that their dirty Megaman t-shirt that's covered in stains and full of holes is still worth the $50 they spent on it in 2015.

Signed - A guy who graduated with a CS degree in 2021 and who hasn't been able to break into the industry because they refuse to work for these overtly evil corporations. I'd rather be forced into indie development than deal with these slimey corporations.

The guy has dedicated UI elements and motion capture cutscenes. Even if it's not the whole game, it's going to be a significant enough chunk of it to drag the whole experience down.

Note: when I say "Not worth the risk" I mean that from Valve's perspective. From my perspective it's a risk that's worth taking and I'd almost argue HAS to be taken.
