I was not too scared to read Stephen King until I managed to get my hands on Salem’s Lot at age 12. Thankfully my dad’s family is more Catholic than the Pope and gave me a lifetime supply of crucifixes and rosaries and prayer books that I used as vampire deterrent one night.

What fictional creature/villain traumatized you as a child?

I’ve got two!
When I was 3 or 4 I sneaked downstairs to watch from the stairs when my dad was watching a “cartoon”. Spent the next ten years or so believing that LotR was a horror novel and was too scared to read it.

Or their subscriptions were completely out of control and they decided to delete the whole mess and start from scratch rather than go through every single one - I had to do that a while ago and I’m slowly building them up again.

It’s been quite a ride 😂 Ended up in a pretty good place after all!

I don’t know yet - I started it on the plane and it was a good read so far. And then I got home and unpacked and put the book … somewhere. 😬

I’ve been back home for for more than 10 years and back in school to learn bookkeeping and other awful things I’d avoided for 30 years 😂 And I love that I ended up as an actual innkeeper 😂 (I complain about guests a lot but it really is a great job)

And then my mum needed surgery and my sister made me feel terrible about not being at home so I quit my job, came back home for half a year. Or so I thought.
More bad stuff, mostly because of my sister and her nightmare of a partner, and now

Did a 4 week teaching course, realized that teaching actually is fab and I’m really good at it and ended up spending a few years working for language schools. Never went back to uni but got a teaching diploma and was working as director of studies at my school.

The one thing I really enjoyed was historical linguistics so I did my final thesis there and was talking to my prof about doing a phd. Health and brain stuff happened and I decided that it was a good idea to do something different for a bit.

Saw an ad for skirts on tumblr earlier and decided to turn today's figure practice into Ed in a skirt to keep myself interested.
