Books, Food, Life at the library, sometimes a bit weird.
I have a crockpot full of chicken thighs, chopped onions and peppers, tomatoes, chicken broth, a container of salsa on the brink of expiration, and lots of garlic powder and cumin, among other seasonings. I will make freezer portions and add noodles or rice upon reheat. Let’s see how this goes.

A couple weeks ago I needed about two teaspoons of pumpkin spice mix for a recipe. Since I didn’t have it and didn’t want to buy it, I figured I’d make some. I made a wee bit too much.

Last night I impulsively made baked apples. It was one of the better impulsive decisions I’ve made in a while.

Yesterday I helped my parents process their mini-squash harvest. The nieces (7 &9) provided kitchen assistance. I wasn’t in the mood for TS I chose to expand their musical education. They experienced two+ hours of Lady Gaga. Minds were blown. I was asked if she’s popular. youtu.be/dFgzq_IUcCA?...

Tonight I chose chaos and walked by my youngest nieces, quietly saying “six seven” so only they could hear it, thus torturing my brother. When I explained what I did to their 29 year old cousin, she said, “I don’t understand. What does it mean?” She just learned that she’s officially lost touch! 😂

I just saw a William W. Johnstone western coming out titled “Bullets, Biscuits, and Bloodshed.”

Is the man trying to be cute now?

I’m home today and decided it would be a good time to start harness training one of my cats. It’s going exactly as you might imagine it would.

Okay. So this totally did me in. I am old, but also: while I am know as a fast walker, trailing after my 6’5” brother and his spry children on asphalt for over 4 hours had repercussions. I’m still a little sore two days later.
Because I’m THE BEST DAUGHTER, I waited 45 minutes in line for fair donuts for my parents. There is a 2 dozen limit. I only took a few for myself. Also rode the Ferris wheel multiple times with my 7 year old niece.

As per tradition in the my family, my brother is watching the children while I’ve been left to tend the grill.

A former-coworker tried to tell me how much more tech savvy his generation is than mine. I informed him that I had multiple email addresses older than him. Then I explained Gopher to him.
I have an email address that is older than some of my colleagues.

My actual bones cried out in terror when I found that out.

Yesterday I roasted chicken legs. Tonight one of the legs was dismembered for fancy-ish ramen.

So as to not hijack: remember, if you have extra pie dough but it isn’t quite enough to fill a pie pan, you can always make a free-form apple pie. I threw this together with my then-8yo niece during our Thanksgiving pie adventures. It was good, messy scientific fun! Yes, there’s lard in that crust.

I ordered sweet potatoes using pick up the other day and they were enormous. It will take me weeks to get through them. One of those sweet potatoes diced up filled an entire pan. Good thing they store well!

@mostlybree.kitrocha.com The mystery box is delightful. Plum thinks some items belong to her. She is mistaken.
