Will NYS math assessments ever not be the literal freaking worst?

idk about 'always' but if you go with stacking partial things, it's no big deal.

My ESL tutee is...done? 🎉

She has worked very hard. The one thing I feel I can take credit for is getting her to pronounce "on" like a Buffalonian.

I know everyone knows polypad but honestly its number line creator is the best available. All the flexibility, easy UI, just works, does FRACTIONS, doesn't make you have STUPID ARROWS by default but you can turn them on if you insist, exports a sensible window and not your whole screen. Just mwah.

it's kind of astonishing just how terrible openai still is at generating math diagrams. I asked it for "a tape diagram representing 75% of 8 = 6."

I'm teaching a grad class called Contemporary Math Curriculum Development and want to pose the concept of an instructional model, and made this. It's... informed but mildly crackpottish. I don't know what the title is. Who should I be reading on holistic frameworks for planning instruction? #edusky

Old classroom videos are wild. Here is Robert B Davis freehanding a whole coordiate grid while the children sit silently with their hands folded.

My colleague made this today and it broke my brain. Not really, but I did have to list out all the integer solutions to answer it. Thinking about more heuristicky/shortcutty ways to think about it. (The pictographs at the top are a balanced scale and a digital scale.)
