I've been using tactile counters. First a silicone kids toy with numbers and letters, then plastic purpose built for stitch/row counting and now tally counters.

Went up to Montreal to see the #4Nations #CAN v SWE and #USA v FIN games last week.

Outside Centre Bell, every team had a stylized vehicle wrap based on the country's colors.

Whoever wins, it's been a great series.

I learned to crochet for real for real late last year.

Have made my share of plushies and a crapton of beanies but these two one of a kind originals, repping Bay Area teams and athletes, are my faves so far.

Eventually I'm gonna get to the rest of the teams.

That, kinda recent, time when I cited 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' in talking about the Gold Rush era in a college paper. 😄
Eliza Farnham: Feminism and Fertile Land, A Life in the West Eliza Farnham’s account of her life in California, California, In-doors and Out, presents a novel account for its time focusing not on the Gold Rush and prospecting but instead reflecting an proto-naturalist appreciation of nature and agriculture. Her work precedes the literary naturalist movement that rose after her death and reflected a deep appreciation and cohabitation of nature while not quite embracing the literary naturalist movement’s view of nature as an all imposing force. The longing for the simplicity of nature mirrors the language and sentiment of Henry David Thoreau’s Walden but elevates self-determinism and feminism alongside harmony with nature. In doing so, Farham reflects a new hopeful and harmonious California Dream. A large part of the narrative draws a line against the pursuit of the Gold Rush. Farham eschews the sentiment of the 49ers espoused in Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson debut album, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” (50 Cent). She writes, “I also have an abiding faith that there is something in California besides its mines, some life worth considering besides that of the people who delve at the ‘dry or wet diggings,’ and pray, if they every pray at all, that the Sierras might turn into huge piles of gold-dust before their eyes” (Young 158). In this passage, Farnam is lamenting the singular focus on mining as a means of prosperity in California and longs for more focus on other things. One of them being nature. Farnham also expresses regret at the lost effort, opining, “if half the stout hearts and strong hands, that every year leave home for the mining regions of California, were as resolutely directed towards her teeming vales and plains and hills, for here all are fertile, there would be an annual saving of wealth, health, life, and virtue, that would in these respects, soon elevate her to a level with any of her elder sisters” (Young 158).

But you get a spiffy certificate. I'm not gonna lie, it was kinda chilling looking out on the water and knowing there wasn't land around for hundreds or thousands of miles. I was really happy/relieved when we got to our first port (cruise started with 10 sea days).
