Multnomah County Chair. Former County Commissioner for District 3 and former Oregon State Representative. She/her.
Earlier this week, the @multco.bsky.social board sent a letter to the Oregon Public Utility Commission supporting an emergency winter moratorium on utility disconnections through at least April 1, 2026, ensuring households don’t lose their heat or power this winter.

Today we remember and honor the lives of transgender individuals who we have lost in targeted violence because of who they are.

Multnomah County is committed to supporting our transgender community, providing and funding services that treat each community member with dignity.

I support a City of Portland ordinance prohibiting raising rents through algorithm-driven price fixing services. Protecting tenants from rent increases that do not take into account local, individual needs is a policy we need to decrease evictions, safeguard tenants, and promote fair competition.

Preschool for All has added 240 mid-year seats!

That’s brings the total number of tuition-free seats PFA is providing for families throughout MultCo to over 3,800 seats across more than 220 locations — exceeding this year’s goal by 27%.

We remain on track to reach universal coverage by 2030.

The creation of housing is key to solving our homeless crisis and making life more affordable for everyone.

Multnomah County provides a continuum of services to move people from homelessness to a home of their own.

We don't build housing, an area where partnership with Portland is so important.

As a result of a federal judge’s order, today Oregonians who receive SNAP food assistance have had 100% of their November benefits restored.

These benefits never should have been suspended. The Trump administration is appealing the order, and MultCo is joining the legal opposition to this appeal.

My office receives hundreds of constituent emails every month on all sorts of topics, and we try our best to respond to each one.

This request all the way from Montenegro, however, really stood out, and I am so glad that we were able to help.

Anyone can contact my office at [email protected]

Nearly one in five Multnomah County residents depends on SNAP food assistance to help meet their basic human needs.

These are families. Children. It’s unconscionable for the federal government to shut off this critical resource.

We need action now.

The Peer Company currently manages the Behavioral Health Resource Center downtown, which reached 100,000 visits last July.

They are also one of the organizations that can access sobering services at the Pathway Center alongside Portland Street Response, Project Respond, CHAT, 4D Recovery, and VOA.

I recently had an opportunity to visit The Peer Company to celebrate their new name (formerly the Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon), meet their team, and tour their recovery campus, which includes plans for supportive housing units designed for families.

Another beautiful day in downtown Portland. Tens of thousands of Portlanders are here to say no Kings, no military wanted or needed here. ✊

In 2016, Multnomah County codified our stance as a sanctuary county. I am proud to stand in solidarity with Portland as they reaffirming a clear & unequivocal commitment to protecting the rights, dignity, & safety of all community members. We will stand strong for our values and neighbors together.

I am heartbroken to learn that Rep. Hòa Nguyễn has passed away. She always had a passion for fighting for her community, fighting for youth – representing her district in a way that gave voice to people who didn’t traditionally have a voice.

Today we held a moment of silence in her honor.

We encourage Portlanders to tell Trump's Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem: Paws Off Portland! You’re barking up the wrong tree! Today at 4pm at Revolution Hall.

How about $10 million from this administration to keep people housed who had been living on our streets?

Trump needs to get his priorities straight. His actions & policies are harming Portland, not helping.

We do not want or need an unlawful, expensive military deployment on the taxpayer dime.

Special visit in the office today! MCSO Deputy Oman & Comfort Dog Burton, a 5 year old long-haired German Shepherd. Burton joins Deputy Oman on patrol & at community events.

Before joining the County, Burton trained to become a guard dog but was not about that life. Thankfully, he’s happy with us!

Today is an absolutely glorious Fall day here in Portland. It could not be further from this federal administrations depiction of our beloved City.

I was proud to stand with local leaders today to say in unity that military intervention is not wanted, not needed, and not lawful.
September 28, 2025 at 12:52 AM
This evening I stood with local leaders as we track reports that an influx of federal agents have been sent to Portland.

Federal intervention is not wanted or needed here.

To every community member who is living in fear of being targeted by this administration — know that you are not alone.

I’m looking forward to attending the upcoming El Grito Portland celebrations beginning Sunday, and acknowledge the fear federal immigration policies are causing that could impact attendance.

Multnomah County is committed to supporting our Latiné community and upholding our sanctuary county promise.

Our diversity is our strength, and we must continue to uphold this truth in both our words and actions as extremist threats and violence continue to become more prominent.
September 11, 2025 at 2:26 AM
We must stand together and fight against hate and for inclusion and belonging.
September 11, 2025 at 2:26 AM
We stand together in condemning recent events and upholding free speech, non-violent protest, and the central tenets of democracy as a model for this nation, our state and our local governments.
September 11, 2025 at 2:26 AM
The escalation of violence and threats over the past year against political figures, elected officials and public employees is contrary to our democratic ideals and must be condemned.
September 11, 2025 at 2:26 AM
