Hey y’all, having a hard one today. My best friend of 15 years isn’t looking so great and we might be having to say goodbye to her tomorrow. She’s my first dog and so also my first time saying goodbye. She’s always been the easiest little old lady to take care of and I can’t imagine life without her

Hey @nytimes.com what the fuck does it mean to “still abide by a truce” after you’ve broken it? My understanding of truces is they’re kinda binary. You either have one or you don’t. This seems more like a slow down than a true truce.

What makes this particularly bad is that the article lists 50 year old credentials for both of them (they were Marxists in the 1960s, but abandoned it for neoconservatism) to give the impression that this is a critique of the left, from the left, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

This is what I was responding to. Again, I think we can have multiple complicated conversations but whether people are being mean to Large Language Models, because they’re genuinely not sentient intelligences, is really low on the list of priorities imo

Sharia Law has become a political football in the United States, a boogeyman to trot out whenever you want to scare ignorant white folks. You have to wonder how aware of that the international community is and whether this is just incomprehensible garbage to them.
