I started photography using a Russian 35mm to take pictures of my father's construction sites as well as a range of other pictures.
I was fortunate to have done an art foundation course at Leeds College of Art and Design;
Snow drifts around a quiet creek. The mist softens the world until only shape and tone remain.

Tower and windbreak trees in Iowa winter. What appears still is actually working—broadcasting, sheltering, recording. Even the calm is performed.

The Fact, Not the Argument

A white sign reads “SNAP feeds children,” posted on rusted steel beneath a railway line.
Under a dark railway bridge, the meaning stays blunt and real.

The trees appeared in a rush of winter light, heavy with ice and dense with detail.

The scene seemed to make its own case—breathtaking, fleeting, and far ahead of anything I could plan.

The winter trees bend under a thin crust of ice, caught between stillness and strain.
It’s a simple scene on the surface, but it carries the quiet complexity of a natural system holding itself together through the cold.

on the road, in motion, as a visitor, in winter

A winter farm appears from the road, held at a distance by motion and cold light. It’s a visitor’s moment—short, calm, and shaped by the slow winter pace of the Midwest.

A quiet line of winter trees in a field along I-88. Snow, fog, and a moment where I could just watch the landscape unfold from the passenger seat.

A dandelion clock in black and white. The seeds are still, for now. Everything is waiting to become something else.

A dark hill and a line of trees sit under low, heavy clouds. The still pond doubles the scene, turning the landscape into a quiet mirror.

A torn section of birch bark. The rough grey surface frames a vivid red and brown core. I worked the bark with charcoal but kept the centre saturated. The result hints at a wound, for me, like the way we feel loss and change.

Four Healers Return to the Earth

Four birch trees stand bare against the vast water and sky. They mark a season of return and quiet change.

On Highway 11, between Thunder Bay and Fort Frances — Quetico North Outfitters, a small lifeline of gas, coffee, and conversation. The kind of place that reminds you how far north you’ve come, and how kind the people are when you stop.

This one began as a 1980s black-and-white print, later reworked in ink and then merged again. What drew me in was the light on the roofs after rain - even in Watford.
