Protip: the Apple EarPods are cheap headphones, still the microphone is perfect. Great for calls, and there’s no Bluetooth/battery.

The LED ambient lighting in my car was having random issues (e.g., some portions would turn off).
The fix? A user profile reset 😆🤦♂️

Same. Some parts can be helpful but the majority of completions contains syntax errors. Haven’t found a way to decline these with a reason.

Rant: I can't stand the IntelliJ and VSCode AI-powered completions. This is making me loose so much time. The worse thing is when I had it disabled, but some update re-enabled it back just in case I would miss out on how awesome coding with a LLM is (spoiler alert: it is not).

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Great talk by @hollycummins.com at Lindholmen developer day. As a data person and as someone who used to work with healthcare this resonated a lot: "don't make human tell computer things the computer already knows". It is so key but so often neglected in practice (&definitely a thief of joy) #databs

Can We Know Whether a Profiler is Accurate?
Measuring causes profiles to change, so is there a way to work around it and know whether a profile is accurate?

it's kinda weird that all the software i am expected to use for work are all written by distributed teams, go, python, postgres, linux, chrome, k8s etc
and despite being told "the best teams work in an office together" i don't know of any software i use that's actually written that way

I find it amusing how modern JavaScript and plain built-in browser APIs are already compelling. I’m not saying React is useless, but you don’t always need to go that far.
