I maintain that people’s reaction to LLMs and what they suggest about human cognition is not unlike people’s reaction to Darwin and what he suggested about humanity’s place in the natural order. We are special, we are imbued with something unique, etc. And blind fury at those who wonder otherwise.
Yes because I experience things like love and grief and ennui and all of these other things that can't be coded let alone explained. We're more complex than an input-output machine and the quest to drill us down to that is inherently fascist.
