One of the things that is circular about how we got here: HepB cases are low, so why do we need to give this vaccine to babies? Cause we vaccinated to lower the incidence.

Cut to: increased incidence, more opportunistic infections of mothers who don't know they are HepB+.

One (of so so many) things that made me angry today was Retsef Levi suggesting people "ask their friends" as a way to gauge HepB prevalence in the community*, when a reason it's currently low is *all the effort we've put into vaccination over several decades*. I miss actual experts on ACIP.
The effects of the ACIP poisoned recommendations may not be seen clearly at scale for years.

But every child that unnecessarily develops HepB-associated chronic liver disease and cancer is the fault of those on that committee, the HHS Secretary, and those that capitulated to put him in power.

They are quite literally proposing an already-tried-and-failed policy that led to kids getting preventable diseases, organ failure, and cancer.
When the vaccine first came out, the US actually only vaccinated “high-risk” individuals and children born to Hepatitis-B-positive parents. And it didn’t work out well. Disease rates only declined - by ~99% - after making the vaccine a universal recommendation on Day1 www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...
