My husband used to get CDs from the library and painstakingly create personalized CDs for family members. This is a favorite of mine, now stored on my phone.

This advent calendar tree dates from 1983 when I made it with my daughters age 2 and 7 while their dad was working on his dissertation. It’s held up well, although sometimes bits of Velcro need to be re-glued. 🎄

My “liberry” card allows me to take out books from an eight-year-old’s library. It has a barcode and a QR code. And a photo of me on the back.
I took out a Nancy Drew book to read to her.

The woods in eastern Connecticut should not look like this in November. Euonymus alatus (burning bush) among others will be prohibited from sale as of October 1, 2028. In our woods, the damage has already been done.🌱
Beyond an asphalt roadway, tall leafless trees and a single utility pole are standing. At the base of these is a solid mass of bright red burning bush.

Halloween when your team lets you down

More fall colors around my yard🌱
Bok choy plants stand beneath fine white netting supported by metal arches. The soil around the netting is weedy, and in the background is a wire fence supported by a thick wooden frame with fall color woods beyond. At the edge of the woods, a large winterberry plant still has green leaves but each branch is outlined in bunches of small bright red berries. Fall color around my yard and into the woods last week. 🌱.
My favorite backyard fall tree, a very tall bright yellow sweet birch (I think) with white pines and eastern hemlocks on either side. In the foreground, a yellow metal wheelbarrow rests on its side on a patch of fallen leaves, mostly brown but some yellow and gray. Behind is a patch of yellow maples, more bushes than trees, and in back of them a bright red highly invasive burning bush (euonymus). A small maple reveals its presence with large yellow, orange and red leaves poking out from the shiny leaves of rhododendrons and mountain laurels.

The bird that showed up at my feeder.

I love voting in my little Connecticut town because every year we have a different student-created frog sticker
