Let’s #DitchDST and #SaveStandardTime! 👉 @savestandard.bsky.social
Summer’s early sunrises aren’t a problem, thanks to summer’s late sunsets:

Ditching DST for permanent Standard Time would save the lives of countless children and adults.

Loss of life is more than an inconvenience.

Again, please simply read the sources provided.

Permanent Standard Time’s morning light is best for mental health, not DST’s morning darkness and sleep deprivation.
January 29, 2026 at 1:08 AM
Most polls show most people prefer permanent Standard Time. History shows permanent Standard Time lasts, and permanent DST costs lives/money then gets repealed.

Orchid update: New stem begins to fork.

Orchid update: New stem keeps climbing.

The post that I’m quote-posting below is a common misunderstanding. Daylight Saving Time was created to profit shopping and golfing. The myth that DST helps farmers was invented by the shopping/golfing lobbyists.

No. Solar time measures nature most accurately, and Standard Time approximates solar time at a global scale (to facilitate communication and prevent transportation deaths).

Daylight Saving Time misaligns clocks by an arbitrary hour to force early waking (for increased leisure spending).

Perhaps Sharon lives somewhere in Michigan, Indiana, Idaho, etc, places that incorrectly observe the time zone one hour to the east, creating unnaturally late sunrises? Unfortunately excess evening light worsens the harm of deficit morning light.
January 14, 2026 at 4:07 PM
Time zones were created by astronomers to standardize solar time at a global scale to prevent fatal railway crashes.

Yes, ditch DST!
January 12, 2026 at 4:59 PM
Yes, Daylight Saving Time was instituted to profit shopping malls and golf clubs. DST was never for farmers, health, energy, or safety. #DitchDST

Orchid update: New stem still grows.

Thank you! This will be its third year in my home. Here is a photo of it from March of last year.

An employee is far more likely to be welcomed an hour early than an hour late.

You just said you’re willing to set your alarm an hour early all winter. Please do so, and leave the clock honest.
January 10, 2026 at 5:57 PM
Light environment changes with travel, not with DST. Accidents from jet lag and other circadian misalignment costs hundreds of lives annually.
January 10, 2026 at 5:55 PM
No. Changing clocks biannually needlessly costs lives and money. And DST’s unnaturally late sunlight (plus its circadian misalignment) deprives sleep, which increases illness and accidents. If you like waking an hour early, no one’s stopping you.

Here is a globe showing nearly all of Maine and absolutely all of the rest of New England fit within the ideal boundaries of Eastern Standard Time (UTC–5), not Atlantic Standard Time (UTC–4).

Standard Time is so-named because it standardizes solar time.

DST was extended to profit golf and shopping.

More people want pST.

DST costs hundreds of lives and millions of dollars annually. Summer makes it “brighter later”. DST make us wake earlier (and sleep less).

No, we’ve had light poles and flashlights for well over a century and a quarter now.

And regardless, you could turn on every light in your house at 3am, your brain will still feel drowsy. You are a diurnal human. Your biology craves morning sunlight.
