No doubt they'll try it, but couldn't it backfire because Trump ordered only Democrats to be investigated, which means the only stuff they can't release would be about Democrats? And if they withhold on Trump, under this clause, that would mean there is an active DOJ investigation into him.

honestly think Jay Jones is militant, nor does anyone else. His opponent, by contrast, actually supports the MAGA political violence of January 6, ICE raids, etc. Jones's private texts aren't in the same ballpark as this and we shouldn't pretend otherwise to virtue signal.

And it's hard to find the right language, bc there were many sincere believers in conservatism in the 80s-90s. But the economic principles behind it have by now been totally debunked, and the whole thing was designed to launder racism using dog whistles that Trump simply found he could say openly:

If you're talking about these passages, it's the opposite of my point. The issue, imo, isn't Dems crafting the perfect message to break through the current media landscape, but addressing the media landscape itself. Where is the Dem answer to FoxNews & the rest of it? I'm a New Republic subscriber
That’s something Democrats have been slow to entertain: Picking big arguments designed to stoke conflict and controversy can jar low-information voters out of their algorithmic torpor and get them to take sides themselves. The alternative is giving right-wing propaganda more leeway to determine the prevailing political “weather,” as Brian Beutler puts it. And the report’s call for a bolder approach to communicating government successes will appeal to those who see our problem as partly informational—those who discern a massive imbalance between authoritarians who communicate via flood-the-zone propaganda and liberals who approach our biggest arguments as if they’re Brookings Institution seminars.

Are they? Trump's approval floor is pretty stable at around 37%. There's been no sign of that floor cracking at all. It's a fool's errand and a waste of time. Even in the Great Depression, Hoover got 40% against FDR!

garnish your wages. At that point, you can probably sue the IRS saying, hey I paid, it's the state that is holding the money, but that could take a long time, you might not even win, and my guess is that you'd need a court order to halt the IRS garnishment process in the meantime.
Unlike private creditors, the IRS doesn't need a court order to start garnishing your paycheck. Once they've sent you the proper notices and deadlines have passed without payment or resolution, the IRS has the authority to begin taking a chunk of your earnings each pay period.
