Are they really going to go with rotisserie chickens as the new avocado toast? Not exactly the height of decadence
February 11, 2026 at 2:58 AM
I know this is true but being a resentful lefty growing up in the heart of chud country it's almost impossible for me to imagine the US being "cool"

Not making light of this, I don't think it's good or is some necessary step in creating a potent resistance to fascism, but I don't think it's all gonna work out the way they think it is
February 10, 2026 at 8:40 PM
These fascists can only think in terms of conflict, and I think their idea of the future is one where a constant internal enemy will provide them legitimacy but they just can't conceive of an organized resistance with actual juice because they themselves are a bunch of keyboard warriors.

What*
February 10, 2026 at 8:29 PM
They let the wolf BACK INTO the henhouse then spent the past year wringing ha ds about what they couldn't do. If Europeans trust Dems to substantively address this issue theyre utter fools. The only way out is a primary season so brutal for the centrists that the party is fundamentally changed
February 10, 2026 at 6:50 PM
No, they cannot, there is quite literally nothing they can do. They sat on their hands while Merrick Garland pissed away his time as AG and now they're seeing them do practically nothing except continue voting for judicial nominations. Europeans are correct in recognizing Dems as co-conspirators

This is how I die, trying this shit, falling face first and landing directly in my nose, breaking my cartilage, piercing my skull and crushing my frontal lobe
February 10, 2026 at 4:25 PM
I apologize too, I hadn't read this and missed it, but what I'm seeing is that they got 2 Republicans on board, losing 51-49 but apparently this isn't something to keep fighting for? You almost won, lost a vote, and now mums the word on the slush fund. Fundamental weakness bsky.app/profile/coeu...
February 10, 2026 at 2:27 PM
Permission from a bunch of fascists to be a little less fascistic. The problem is that most Dems fundamentally agree with the fascist premises, they just believe the current state of things is a little uncouth
February 10, 2026 at 2:25 PM
Until you have the ability to actually abolish ICE. You are also fixating in this one (1) issue when there are many more demands to be made, for example ending qualified immunity. If you relegate all your asks to what you think you're gonna get you aren't really doing politics, you're just asking...
February 10, 2026 at 2:25 PM
You show your intentions, galvanizing support for future elections by showing you are listening to your constituents. It also puts the enemy in a position to concede some easier demands because they can say they fought to keep ICE funded, perhaps helping to temper ICE atrocities...
February 10, 2026 at 2:25 PM
Ah ok, so you don't really get what I'm saying, my b. I am suggesting, and get this, you make demands that have a wide appeal (and abolishing ICE is a widely popular position among the base and beyond) signalling that you are listening to voters demands so that even if you don't get them...
February 10, 2026 at 2:25 PM
Lol at your arbitrary timeline. I'd say the cold blooded murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti have evidently changed the salience of the issue, but the fact that this obvious fact is something youre gonna pretend to be obtuse to tells me you're really here to defend Dems doing nothing at all
February 10, 2026 at 2:05 PM
I mean is that how you think politics should work? "We tried it once, it didn't work, which means it can never work and even trying is pointless" pathetic, really. And that was just an example of one (1) issue they could use. They need to signal they are committed to abolishing ICE but they wont
February 10, 2026 at 2:00 PM
But I'm assuming you're one of those people who can do nothing but apologize for a bunch of fascist sympathizing hypocrits. And what do you mean "y'all", the internet leftists that make up approx 0.5% of the electorate but who you pretend are somehow derailing Dem goals?
February 10, 2026 at 1:59 PM
Youre really not understanding what I'm saying at all, I specifically said that the slush fund issue has a different salience now than it did previously and even if they failed to achieve it it would signal their intentions to voters and put them in a position to get an easier ask
February 10, 2026 at 1:59 PM
Hell, start with the big ask (cutting the slush fund) and maybe you will actually get some compromise on some easier asks, but since they don't even go with the big ask they get nothing at all. Typical feckless Dem strategy
February 10, 2026 at 1:25 PM
But a large portion of the Democratic party fundamentally agree with the GOP and their ethnic cleansing campaign, further undermining the Dems position as a true alternative to fascism, and further undermining base enthusiasm.
February 10, 2026 at 1:24 PM
They should be pushing to abolish the slush fund again, this time with popular support that could get holdouts to hold the line. Then even if they failed we would know which Dems were traitorous and ripe for a primary while the base would see that the party as a whole is committed to abolishing ICE
February 10, 2026 at 1:24 PM
Read the first part. If they signalled to voters "here's what we think we can do, but don't worry, when we're in power we are abolishing ice" people would be less cynical
February 10, 2026 at 1:24 PM
I understand that abolishing ICE isn't on the table currently, but it is a Nazi paramilitary organization being funded by the American tax payer and the Dems are acting like a little extra training here and there is going to turn it into something other than the US Dept of Ethnic Cleansing
February 10, 2026 at 1:16 PM
The problem is they're already signalling that abolishing ICE is off the table when they get in power. There are things Dems could push for and make a huge splash about, such as reigning in that slush fund, that even if they failed to achieve would show people they're serious about disciplining ICE
