Went to type "I think the" on my phone which it immediately autocompleted to: "I think they've backed themselves into a corner." Unsure why.

All other things aside, I hope @NVAccess will benefit financially from NVDA being included on the BrailleNote Evolve.

My coffee machine needs to be descaled. The process requires 4.5 litres of water.

It probably won't be very accessible, so I might have to do it twice or more to successfully complete it to the machine's satisfaction.

Please make your products #accessible so I can stop wasting water. Thank you […]

Pet peeve: people mixing up the terms "screen readers" and "screen reader users." The latter rely on the former precisely because they cannot read the screen. It is deeply dehumanising to reference work being done "for screen readers," as though the tools occupy the mind more than the people […]

A little #caturday story about Ping.

Picture this:

Two or three days a week, I have a video chat of about an hour with my father-in-law 3000 miles away in England, who is soon 95, unable to move from his chair or […]

The first eight series of #reddwarf are now available to purchase as audiobooks, with four series per book. For example on Audible, that means two credits for 24 and a half hours of episodes.

If you haven't been able to ship your iOS/macOS 26 update yet and have been feeling bad about it, just remember:

Apple still hasn't shipped iWork with Liquid Glass, and Apple also opted all its pro apps out of Liquid Glass.

Final Cut Pro on iPad still doesn't support the background video […]

A career tip I'm still really bad at.

Stuck on something, you know someone else more experienced in that thing can probably help you with it, but don't want to bother them because you're embarrassed to not have figured it out on your own?

Ask them anyways.

In general, it's legit people's jobs […]

I buy a fair amount of #audiobooks with the intention of listening later, for instance when there's a sale. It's incredibly frustrating when I get around to listening to the first in a series only to find that the rest have become unavailable or been rerecorded by another narrator in the meantime.

My Bluetooth braille display isn't currently switched on/available, and NVDA's braille display setting is set to automatic detection. That seems to be making the following unhelpful context get logged at INFO level every 20 seconds:

Every GUI toolkit/accessibility API has the concept of windows. So I'd love to know why NVDA only announces the window role for some of them and not others.

E.g. I know I'm using an application powered by UIA (or toolkits that use it like WPF) because NVDA announces the word "window" after the […]

If the writings of Elizabeth Jane Howard are to believed, the most pressing problem in late 1930s Britain were the bluebottles, mostly dead. War? What war?

A particularly cringeworthy trait of some tech people: providing way more information than is warranted in response to simple queries.

For example, question: "Does this website load for you?"

Answer: "No," proceeded by debug-level output from curl for some reason.

"Oh, you don't know what […]
