Is this the one? Spend a little too much time thinking about housing // transit // climate // cool maps. And not enough time learning how to garden properly. Member of the Montgomery County Planning Board, but all posts and opinions here are my own
Absolutely my favorite. 10/10 no notes

Also, this

The people of Seattle voted for an approach to governance that involves marginally higher taxes (for wealthier HHs) in exchange for a set of explicitly defined services. Sounds like they made an informed choice!

Maybe WaPo should do an op-ed about people voting for platforms they like
You guys realize that taxing people to pay for services isn't socialism, right? This is just how governments work.

The whole op-ed is just dripping with breathless condescension, a perfect snapshot of elite resentment of people who experience the world for what it actually is

But, it's helpful to know the good folks at the WaPo ed board don't think car-free renters with kids are worthy of leadership

Set aside the fact that WaPo makes it sound like Wilson mooches off her parents (she doesn't), and that Wilson has explicitly said that her parents stepped up to help with child care *because* of the burdens of the mayoral campaign

Child care is now a "goodie" per the WaPo ed board

Can't wait!

It will almost certainly be out of the news entirely within a couple days

In retrospect (with no tunnel), Philadelphia does seem better. Avoid the inclines, avoid the awkward sidepath on Burlington (that will also be right next to a one-way protected lane on Burlington per their 30% designs)

That makes sense. I imagine that approach may continue for folks going to/from Takoma metro

I had been wondering about that segment too. I know space is constrained going north from Aspen...but going west still seems out of the way (though I know that's what folks have been doing for years, weaving through the 3rd/4th/5th/6th street area)

The latter option also seems to require some sidewalk riding per an exchange @graykimbrough.bsky.social had recently

But overall...it's getting close! I'm not sure if they'll wait for the CCT portion to finish before opening the MBT. The bridge and paving up to the Solaire building seem nearly done

The bridge over Georgia Ave has been installed, which was a huge step

But they still need to finish the final connection between Selim and Fenton - which means they can either go down to King St and over, or connect via Burlington. The former avoids car traffic, the latter seems to be easier ($)
