Yep, the kid is having a totally normal childhood, definitely not being exploited for cheap weekend lab labor. Nothing to see here....

"Plants are the world's most dominant life-form...."
Epic course synopsis from my colleague @ckrieg.bsky.social .

Sounds like an amazing class, but quite a shot across the bow for all us animals

Good job. The best way to put out a fire, especially a dumpster fire, is to deprive it of oxygen

Bruschetta has been a nice, easy meal that the kids actually ask for.

a = 4.5miles
c = 131miles
ɑ = arcsin(a/c) = ~2 degree incline
If only it were that easy in reality 😅

There is so much beauty in this country. A profound thank you to our National and State Park, USFS, USGS workers past and present.

The past year has been a return to form for me as a legit backpacker. I made the time, dialed in my gear, and saw some amazing parts of Appalachia

- logged 131 trail miles
- 23,897ft of ⬆️ elevation
- 4 states (NC, VA, WV, KY)
- much sanity restored
- At least one trail that doubled as a creek 😂

Well that started quickly! I think I'll get a bowl this size every other day for the foreseeable future

NOA day!! 🎉

Excited to continue this project to advance tools for studying limb regeneration.

We have openings for a Research Tech as part of this funding, so please send great applicants our way! 🧪

The gentleman who's business services our RO purification systems was a Wake SOM P.I. in the 80's. Today he brought me a reprint of his PhD work!! @peiferlabunc.bsky.social have you ever read this paper? I had no idea there were Wingless mutant chickens!

Just finished an amazing 25mi double loop in Pisgah near Brevard, NC. Despite almost getting flattened by mtn. bikers a few times, it was incredibly calming (I slept 10 hours in the tent!). Also, I highly recommend the Pink Beds loop (the smaller loop). Very accessible (and flat) for casual hikers.

Saw a whole den of rattlers in Pisgah yesterday! Afraid of what the next experience level is 😀
June 3, 2025 at 11:08 PM
Yeah, I've lived in the southeast most of my life and this is the first time I've seen a rattlesnake. Seems like Hanging Rock might be a special island in the rattlesnake Piedmont range
June 1, 2025 at 10:56 PM
Saw my first NC timber rattlesnake! A big 5 footer at that! Was in such awe that I only got a pic of the rattle

This whole article is infuriating. These ridicululously over confident DOGE tech bros are a scourge on society and they need to be shunned back into their middle manager coding closets
