Feels like 2008 all over again. Film editor at the SunBreak; Communications at Seattle Film Critics Society. Unlikely Mariners believer.
Tfw you wanted to quit watching a movie an hour in but the last frame makes it all worthwhile. International cinema!

The 2020s are a decade of how horrible it is to have been right

Almost finished watching MY UNDESIRABLE FRIENDS but I keep stopping to pack a go bag and taking screenshots of the most scorchingly relatable frames.

Cris Ryan on SINNERS needs to be the season's hottest remix.

I saw a preview of FIRST COW at @siffnews.bsky.social Film Center in February 2020 before it disappeared into our new streaming reality.

Six years later it will be there again for one night.

Genuinely laughing out loud that the screener for RESURRECTION will not abide by the misguided desire to watch the movie in the morning.

and then get weird and watch NOCTURAMA

The stock photos for the golden globe nominations are ... something. Somehow the funniest part is that Tessa Thompson is the only one with a film still.

As I've said elsewhere the last time these three early groups aligned we got surefire Oscar winner The Social Network.

Even 2/3 alignments rarely match with Oscars. Just No Country For Old Men and Hurt Locker in the 2000s.

Congratulations to the year's THE KING'S SPEECH, I guess?

brutally strategic non-anonymous critics group ballot revealed. Feel pretty good about mine and the resulting nominations, but until the very last minute I was consumed with anxiety over my ordering in Supporting Actress and am left wonder whether I should've done more to get Glenn closer.

Being hated by John Waters is a pretty cool achievement for 2025.

(I did really like Misericordia and appreciated Sirāt, though.)

Nominations for @seattlecritics.bsky.social due in ~ 4 hours and I have shuffled this list about a dozen times today.

The extremely Seattle sigh of relief when Alaska moves your flight from the bus terminal to a regular gate.

Thought about going to see WAKE UP DEAD MAN again but it sold out *while* I was trying to get tickets.

Love to see Neon getting in on the Supporting Small Superlative Creators pullquote economy.

Perusing the local listings and need to study what is happening with anyone going into DIE MY LOVE at 11 pm. Is this a municipal intervention program for at risk cinephiles?

A24 screener tiers for 2025.

Sideways = not yet watched. Not pictured, MARTY SUPREME hovering godlike several miles above in S-Tier.

My sentiments on SENTIMENTAL VALUE, which I'll probably watch yet again now that it's going digital

Dear Neon, thank you for allowing me to learn that Steven Soderbergh's mother was a parapsychologist.

I love how there's one person with a finger on the "push notifications" button at the NYT who occasionally sneaks in a breaking news story about something like "turkey dinner, yum!"

If you've gotten screeners, I'd put Testament of Ann Lee and Marty Supreme near the top of the pile.

Eephus and Pavements are already on MUBI, absolute delights of vastly different speeds.
