While I'm not exited about it, I'll continue to work to make sure our members and community get every chance to have their voices heard in these conversations.

This is promising to be the beginning of a transit death spiral in our region if swift action is not taken to avert further cuts, which are inevitable according to TriMet, as these cuts only represent about 6% of the necessary 10%+ to address the budget shortfall.

Let me be clear, virtually none of these proposals are good for transit service in our region. Our federal government and state legislature have left TriMet with no choice but to make drastic cuts and changes.

Our toolkit offers graphics for every line affected in Washington County, opportunity for public comment, and pre-written content for our members to echo to their audiences to make sure everyone's voice can be heard loud and clear.

And the legislature maintains it will not talk transit in the short session!

I'll be working on behalf of Westside Transportation Alliance to make sure Westside employers, governments, and electeds are aware of these impending cuts, their drastic implications, and what we can do to bolster transportation options in our region in response.

This is undoubtedly the beginning of a transit death-spiral in the Portland Metro and Oregon in general. Show up, give TriMet the leverage they so drastically need to make the case to state legislators that transit is a basic need!

If the transportation funding bill is repealed - which looks likely, given the number of signatures the state Republicans have submitted - there will be more road failures, with fewer state resources to respond, and Oregon's communities and local businesses will be the ones that suffer for it.
