it is kind of funny that the american argument for fahrenheit being sensible is that it maps to base 10 well.

it is very funny to me that my highest comment interaction video in quite a long time is a video of me doing an exam something like a month ago, which a bunch of people i've never spoken to before are convinced they need to backseat me for in the youtube comments of the recently published vod.

my ai understanding is:
- llm prediction is a cool tech that has been studied for 60+ years
- we've reached a point where putting $bn's into it crosses a relevant inflection point
- a large amount of [capitalism] is happening around this. (theft, exaggeration, bubbles)
i think that's about it?

the thing that gets me about climate change is that we don't actually know what happens if the world gets warmer. a lot of our convos are like "we need to limit to <3 degrees celcius warming by 2050" or something like that. some dude made that shit up. we don't know that. it's an informed guess.

y'all should check out forge adventure if you're into shandalar and modern magic. it's shandalar but w/ 95%+ of all magic cards ever made. spent the better part of two days playing it, but have reached a complexity burnout point where every card doing three paragraphs of stuff is boring, not fun.

i find the reasons people are pissed off at trump are weird fairly regularly, but him investing money into upgrading government infrastructure is like, maybe the weirdest one to me so far. we should have a place for fancy dinners at the white house. this is not a winning battleground.

Hitler was greatly inspired by what the so-called United States did to Black and Indigenous people. It's a settler colonial genocidal state. This is how this country has been since the settlers arrived in this land. Of course they become nazis/don't hate nazis.

genuinely why do so many americans have a nazi phase or become genuine nazis. on a fundemental level you’d think that we’d have as much shared hatred for nazism as we do for the british

my understanding of that call is that usually players throw the ball at the baserunner's head to make them get out of the way of it and naylor turned around so it'd hit his back instead of his forehead and because of that he is out

presumably the party in power usually cares about a gvmt shutdown enough to negotiate because a gvmt shutdown prevents them from implementing their agenda, which seems less relevant if they are implementing their agenda almost entirely outside of the channels of legal government action

i am sort of into this but think we should go significantly further and just call americans "americans". like, the americans in america who oppose fascism don't care that much about fascism elsewhere in the world, they just like america. they're american.
I think we really should stop using antifa and just fully say anti-fascist and get them saying they are against anti fascism. Using antifa is giving them some distance and I genuinely think some of their base don’t even know that’s what it stands for.

when i moved to the US i was fairly passionate about gun control for ~10 years, but eventually lost interest because everyone kept telling me you couldn't change the constitution.
it turns out none of those people actually care about the constitution, they just want kids to get shot or something.

i just opened an nfl VOD and clicked through every ~5 minutes to try to get to the start of the game. the first time i saw the field was at 12:13 in the 2nd quarter, every other time i clicked it was an infographic, the commentators, or a commercial.

poker is so wild. this site's charts say big blind's play with 93s against raise, 3b, cold 4b, cold 5b, cold 6b all-in, is to call half the time. and the game is weird enough that i'm not immediately 100% sure it's wrong.

this administration blows goats but sometimes it'll invent something truly hilarious
Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.
"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."
