I know the old joke was always that the primary market for polaroid cameras was blokes wanting to take nude pictures of their wives but not wanting to then take them to a photo shop for processing... but "swinger" must have had a different meaning back then, right? 😀

Why the <censored> did Sweden send us Joe and the Juice instead of Max? I want high quality vegan burgers, not somewhere I can go to feel suicidally depressed over a cup of coffee!

My modest proposal for an improvement to KFC’s logo. (Image created for me in Capcut by my very clever daughter).

Currently at the @armadacon.bsky.social lobby doing some writing, but if you're around, please feel free to say hi!

On Cross Country train on way to @armadacon.bsky.social. Plugs phone in. Phone doesn’t charge. Not sure why. Thinking maybe internal power isn’t enabled. Five minutes later a loud chugging noise emerges accompanied by a strong vibration. Phone starts charging.

It appears I’m on a diesel train. :)

And again on Saturday, a panel about why humour in SF/F, and especially getting humour published, is difficult.

I know his family wouldn't want to accept it in a million years, but I think Bernard McGuigan deserves a posthumous George Cross. He showed huge courage in risking his life to save another human being and paid the ultimate price.

(Note: Soldier F killed five people that day).

Starting to get a bit excited for @armadacon.bsky.social now. Official programme isn't out yet, but I should be on three panels and a GoH interview. Hope to see some of you there!

Finally got round to cancelling my Disney Plus subscription. Took quite a bit of searching (and Googling) to find the appropriate menu option. To be honest, I've got more streaming stuff than I know what to do with, so it's a bit of a no-brainer.

@somersetccc.bsky.social could be on the verge of an epic victory against Yorkshire if the bastard rain that's been bastard raining for huge chunks of the first three days would just stop bastard raining.

Armadacon's a sci-fi and fantasy multimedia convention that's been running in Plymouth since 1988, and this year, I'll be one of the guests of honour. I'm beyond chuffed, hugely excited, and if any of you are attending, let me know because I'd love to meet up with you (@armadacon.bsky.social).

At a display of electric cars organised by the Yorkshire EV Club at the Rotherham Show. My suggestion that all the Teslas should be grouped together in their own area to the far right of the field was rejected.

(And before you come at me, I drive a Model 3 Wankpanzer myself). 😀

Liked this one. Very much a cosy. It's a fictional pair of actors in a fictional early 1970s UK TV sitcom who are very intentionally fictionalised versions of Arthur Lowe and John Le Mesurier (from Dad's Army). Third-person past. [6/?]

Again, enjoyed this. Not really a cosy, more of a coming-of-age book in the garb of a cosy, but in a good way. Mixture of first-person past and third-person past. [5/?]
