Hopefully they’ll flower every year from now on. My Mamillaria is an incredibly reliable annual bloomer #GardensHour

I really like those a lot #GardensHour

With the current downpours it’s easy to forget that it was such a dry year, so my favourite thing is that the garden managed to produce some decent crops #GardensHour

I hope so. They’ll certainly enjoy chewing the cardboard pack in any case 😂

Oh that’s a good one. I got one for my pair of gerbils but haven’t seen one for birds! #GardensHour

‪Evening #GardensHour I’m looking forward to hanging up the trowel for a bit and having a rest! Made a little wreath today for the front door ‬

Have a good week GH!

‪Evening #GardensHour my November highlight was bringing home the Raven ZZ houseplant, which I’ve coveted for some time‬

Quite envious of your set-up there. I’ve only room for a ‘Dalek’ bin, but it produces enough good compost for an annual mulch #GardensHour

Planting (again)! I found this Persicaria ‘Alba Junior’ in the reduced section & liked its big leaves and its contrast to the dark leaf Cannas. Also good to have something flowering at this time of year #GardensHour

‪Planting! I put in a Dicksonia antarctica tree fern over the weekend. Just a very small one, with no trunk to speak of. I’ve wrapped it up as the temperature is possibly dropping into the minus figures for the first time at this end of the year #GardensHour
November 17, 2025 at 9:11 PM
Yes it’ll cling on to it with its aerial roots #GardensHour
November 10, 2025 at 9:34 PM
You can cut them back, but they do want to climb trees! #GardensHour

This recent find is a houseplant I’ve been after for ages; the ‘Raven’ cultivar of Zamioculcas zamiifolia aka the ZZ plant. Each leaf starts off lime green, then turns purple-black #GardensHour
November 10, 2025 at 9:20 PM
Evening #GardensHour true 70’s classic houseplant to begin; Monstera deliciosa - aka the Swiss cheese plant, though it hails from Mexico & Central America. It’s a climber of trees in the wild so likes a bit of support, warmth & humid conditions
November 10, 2025 at 9:09 PM
That’s huge! #GardensHour
November 3, 2025 at 9:28 PM
‪Evening #GardensHour the Salvia ‘Hot Lips’ is still puckering up nicely so I’m looking forward to still seeing some colour in November‬
November 3, 2025 at 9:12 PM
‪Evening #GardensHour though I won’t be bobbing with them, I’ve harvested the last of the Apollo Rocket apples. It seems to have been a mast year so this may be a harsh Winter!‬

Evening #GardensHour I’m a keen composter. Veg food waste goes in, along with a lot of cardboard packaging, home compostable coffee pods & gerbil bedding. It all makes enough for a really good yearly mulch

Many thanks Mary!

Thanks Paul!

Thanks Graeme. It’s handy for garden furniture, ladders as well as the usual control room, swimming pool etc #GardensHour

Evening #GardensHour I’m Jon. I’m here most weeks, and here’s my garden
October 13, 2025 at 8:20 PM
I hope they’re tasty wee apples though! #GardensHour
