Planting (again)! I found this Persicaria ‘Alba Junior’ in the reduced section & liked its big leaves and its contrast to the dark leaf Cannas. Also good to have something flowering at this time of year #GardensHour

Planting! I put in a Dicksonia antarctica tree fern over the weekend. Just a very small one, with no trunk to speak of. I’ve wrapped it up as the temperature is possibly dropping into the minus figures for the first time at this end of the year #GardensHour

This recent find is a houseplant I’ve been after for ages; the ‘Raven’ cultivar of Zamioculcas zamiifolia aka the ZZ plant. Each leaf starts off lime green, then turns purple-black #GardensHour

Evening #GardensHour true 70’s classic houseplant to begin; Monstera deliciosa - aka the Swiss cheese plant, though it hails from Mexico & Central America. It’s a climber of trees in the wild so likes a bit of support, warmth & humid conditions

Evening #GardensHour though I won’t be bobbing with them, I’ve harvested the last of the Apollo Rocket apples. It seems to have been a mast year so this may be a harsh Winter!

I think the Cosmos is now looking the best it has this year. The Cannas in the background will stay out until the frost arrives #GardensHour

Good evening #GardensHour in terms of harvesting, it’s been a good cropping year for the potted Apollo Rocket apple tree. Still lots of fruit on the tree despite the best efforts of Storm Amy!

I’ve brought a few chillis & sweet peppers inside to avoid the cold night. The days are still quite warm though here - 19 & 20 deg C this week #GardensHour

We’re having some very cold nights now so the red Banana, Ensete Maurellii is dug up, potted up & coming inside of an evening. Warm days still though so it goes outside during the day #GardensHour
